How to check and maintain the power brake booster unit on Ford Explorer?

Minimal maintenance is required by the power brake booster unit. Periodically, one should check the vacuum hose as well as the case. Home mechanics are not advised to dismantle it. In case of any problem, install a new or factory-rebuilt unit. The booster is checked by depressing the brake pedal without starting the engine. Start the engine and observe if there is any movement in the pedal. Carry out tests for airtightness and troubleshooting purposes. Disconnecting the master cylinder, vacuum hose, and brake light switch removes it. Remove carefully your booster from the firewall. During installation, make sure that you secure the booster, reconnect the push rod and brake light switch as well as reinstall the master cylinder. If it has an adjustable length, use a gauge to check pushrod length in this case.
