How to replace the air filter and PCV filter in your Mercury Cougar?

You need to buy another filter element and PCV filter if needed. Take off the filter housing cover by unsnapping the clips. Take note of the direction when removing the filter element. Wipe clean the interior of air cleaner housing. Change it again if there is a PCV filter. Separate the hose from it and take out that part. Wear a clip to install a new filter unit around it. The marked side should always be facing up in relation to placing a new air filter element in housing. Turn and close the cover by snapping back on the clips.
