Remove the accelerator linkage shield, which is the shield over the accelerator cable linkage. Then, disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle lever ball stud at the throttle body by prying the end of the accelerator cable from the throttle lever. Next, detach the accelerator cable from its bracket on the intake manifold, but note that the bracket location may differ on later models. From inside the vehicle, remove the cable end from the top of the accelerator pedal. Release the retaining clips at the dash panel and push the cable through the dash panel into the engine compartment. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, with a few exceptions. Make sure that no wiring or hoses contact any moving portion of the accelerator controls. Before starting the engine, ensure that the throttle operates smoothly without any sticking or binding from the accelerator pedal. With the engine running, ensure that the throttle operates normally and the engine returns to idle when you remove your foot from the accelerator pedal.
