The general procedure for installing new drive belts follows the reverse of removal procedures.

The new belt is routed over the various pulleys, with the tensioner rotated to allow the belt to be installed, and then the belt tensioner is released. It is important to ensure that the belt fits properly into the pulley grooves and is completely engaged.

On some later models the components adjustment is made with a tensioner. To replace the belt, lift the tensioner at the bolt or square hole. The tensioner will swing down once the tension of the belt is released. Remove the belt from the auxiliary components and carefully release the tensioner. Route the new belt over the various pulleys, again rotating the tensioner to allow the belt to be installed, then release the belt tensioner. Make sure the belt fits properly into the pulley grooves - it must be completely engaged.
