  A: The transmission must be removed and engine supported properly to take out and evaluate clutch components. Toward the flywheel, on the pressure plate, locating marks should be looked for. Including clutch disc and pressure plate, undo the pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts. Inspect all clutch parts including pilot bearing and flywheel. If needed, replace the release bearing as well as the clutch disc. Additionally, inspect the surfaces of the pressure plate and fingers of the diaphragm spring. Finally, the clutch disc should be aligned with the flywheel and its bolts tightened to assemble it back together then reinstall the transmission then lower vehicle.
