  A: For 1970-1979 models, check the upper ball joint by moving the wheel and observing any movement. The lower ball joint is checked by using a dial indicator. If movement exceeds limits, replace the ball joint. For the 1973-1991 models, replace the upper Control Arm if damaged. For 1992 and later models, replace the upper ball joint by raising the vehicle, removing the wheel, and removing the old ball joint.
