Ford Crown Victoria Heater Core

Heater Core in Ford Crown Victoria vehicles mainly serves as a device which can warm up the vehicle cabin by using the excess heat of the engine. Looking like a miniature radiator, it is the core through which a water and antifreeze solution circulates and the hot coolant of the engine passes through to warm the car's interior. Depending on the type and complexity of the heater core some may have a valve or doors to control temperature and other complex systems utilize electromechanical actuators. In airconditioned vehicles, the heater core also help in de humidity since it reheat cool air going to the evaporator. Some of the issues, which are usual are clogging, leaking and corrosion, which when addressed may mean that the dashboard has to be almost dismantled. There are other methods of heating air-cooled engines; however, they are risky to implement.

Ford Crown Victoria Heater Core Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the heater core on Ford Crown Victoria?
A: Taking out the heater core is a process that involves disconnecting the negative battery cable and draining the cooling system. One needs to unplug the tubes on the heater hoses from the core. One must also remove nuts as well as vacuum hoses. Other interior trim parts, like instrument panel trim, steering column covers, and reinforcement brace, need to be removed. The door sill plates should be loosened, cowl trim panels removed, and instrument panel bolts taken out. After lowering the steering column, retaining screws are removed to pull back the instrument panel. Wiring harnesses and vacuum components are disconnected from it. The floor air distribution duct is then removed. Move the plenum and remove it too.
