Q: How to remove and install suspension arms and trailing arm on a Ford Escape?
A: Loosen lug nuts, raise vehicle on jackstands, remove wheel. For upper Trailing Arm, remove nut from ball stud, separate arm from trailing arm. Use puller if needed. Remove pivot bolt, remove arm. Installation is reverse. Tighten fasteners. For lower Trailing Arm, remove nut from ball stud, separate arm from trailing arm. Use ball joint removal tool if needed. Remove pivot bolt, remove arm. Installation is reverse. Tighten fasteners. For trailing arm, remove coil spring, brake shoe assembly, brake hose and line brackets, parking brake cable brackets, ABS sensor and harness brackets. Remove hub and bearing assembly. Suspend brake backing plate. Mark toe adjusting cam. Unscrew pivot bolt, separate arm. Inspect pivot bushing. Replace if needed. Installation is reverse, align matchmarks. Raise arm with jack, tighten fasteners. Check wheel alignment.
