How to remove and install a fuel pressure regulator on Ford Explorer?

Relieve fuel system pressure. Disconnect battery cable. Remove upper intake manifold and detach passenger side fuel rail and injector assembly from lower intake manifold. Disconnect vacuum line from pressure regulator. Remove fuel return line and mounting bolts securing regulator to fuel rail. On 4.0L pushrod engines, remove fuel return line from top of regulator. On 5.0L engines, remove vacuum line and regulator mounting bolts. Remove regulator from fuel rail and discard O-ring and washer if equipped. Install new O-rings and washer, lubricate with oil. Reverse removal steps. Check fuel return line for kinks or wear, replace as needed.
