Q: How to remove and install A/C Accumulator,A/C Compressor,Evaporator and A/C Condenser of an air conditioning system in a Ford Focus?
A: Begin by discharging and recovering the condenser at a professional facility. Disconnect the negative battery cable, raise the vehicle, remove the radiator undershield, and detach refrigerant lines from the condenser. Remove radiator support bracket bolts, condenser upper mountings, and unclip the condenser from the radiator. For 2008+ models, detach the wiring harness, remove the lower radiator cross member, and disconnect the refrigerant lines. Remove condenser mounting bolts and condenser. For the evaporator, remove the instrument panel and heater unit assembly from the firewall. The compressor should also be discharged at a professional facility. Remove the undershield, loosen the drivebell, disconnect refrigerant lines, and remove the drivebelt shield. For 2008+ models, remove the engine cooling fan. Detach the power steering line, air conditioning discharge line, unbolt the compressor, and unplug the connector. For the accumulator/drier, disconnect the negative battery cable, refrigerant line next to the accumulator/drier and remove the right-hand front wheel. Disconnect the refrigerant line from the accumulator/drier, unbolt it from the suspension sub frame and remove. For 2008+ models, remove the lower radiator splash shield.Lastly, for the high pressure cut-off switch, low pressure cycling switch, and pressure relief valve, all should be discharged at a service facility. Unplug the electrical connectors and unscrew the switches or valve as required. Reverse the order for all installation processes.
