Ford Focus Power Steering Cooler Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the power steering fluid cooler on Ford Focus?
A: Unbolt and set aside the coolant recovery tank, then detach the power steering reservoir from its retaining bracket, disconnect the hose, and drain the fluid into a suitable container. Unclip the hose from the retaining bracket. Apply the parking brake, jack up the front of the vehicle, and support it on axle stands. Unscrew the securing screws from the splash shield under the radiator and remove the shield, disconnecting the temperature sensor electrical connector if installed. Remove the fluid cooler hose by inserting a special tool into the end of the hose along the pipe to release it, allowing the fluid to drain into the container. Unscrew the fluid cooler securing bolts and remove the cooler from the vehicle, noting that it is positioned across the front of the radiator. For installation, reverse the removal process and bleed the power steering hydraulic system.
