Q: How to remove and install the shift lever assembly on Ford Mustang?
A: To dismantle this shift lever assembly first engage the parking brake and move the lever to the Neutral position. Following this pull out the center console shifter bezel and the center console as well as driver and passenger center console kick panels. Lift the car and support it with jack stands or simple a wooden block. Removed the end of the Shift Cable from the shift lever using a small screwdriver or the trim panel tool, then disconnect the shift cable from the shift assembly mounting bracket you have to get new shift lever cable retaining clip(s). Remove the electrical connector from the shift lock solenoid and then, remove the two nuts and two bolts in order to pull out the shift lever assembly from the floor. For installation follow the reverse of the removal procedure and if the shift cable position needs to be adjusted then do it now.
