Q: How do you remove the upper and lower control arms on Ford Thunderbird?
A: To remove the upper control arm, loosen wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and remove the wheel. Detach the spindle from the upper control arm by removing the upper ball joint-to-spindle bolt and nut. Break off the tabs on the control arm pivot bolts and remove them. For the lower control arm, loosen the ball joint retaining nut and separate it from the spindle. Mark the camber adjustment cam position, remove the nut attaching the tension strut, and remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolt and nut. Remove the pivot bolt and nut to detach the control arm. If the pivot bushing is worn, have it replaced. To install, reverse the removal procedure, ensure the suspension is at normal ride height.
