Q: How to install a cabin air filter in Lincoln MKX without a factory-installed filter?
A: Not all models were equipped from the factory with a cabin air filter. If a filter was not installed, a screen was installed in its place. Check with your local auto parts store or dealer parts department for a retrofit filter available for these models. Unlatch the glove box door stop from the top, and lower the door. Depress the tab on the left side of the filter door and pull the filter from the housing. Depress the latch and swing the access panel open, then remove the filter from the housing. When installing, make sure the pleated side is facing up. On 2015 and later models, the filter door has two retaining screws instead of clips securing it to the housing. Installation is the reverse of removal.
