Q: How to replace brake pads on Mercury Grand Marquis?
A: Some 1995 and later models have modifications in their front Brake Caliper and brake pads. To replace the brake pads, remove the brake fluid reservoir cover and siphon out half of the brake fluid. Loosen lug nuts, raise and secure the vehicle, and remove the wheels. Inspect the Brake Disc and remove if machining is needed. Remove the caliper mounting bolts and depress the caliper piston. Remove the caliper and brake pad assembly, then replace the inner and outer brake pads. Apply thread locking compound and grease to the caliper bolts. Hang the caliper from the upper control arm on some models. Tighten the caliper bolts, depress the brake pedal, check the brake fluid level, and top it off if needed.
