    Q:
How do you properly remove and install the I-beam axle and radius arm on Ford Excursion? Posted by Customer
    A:
Lift the front of the vehicle by using the jack, place it on jackstands, turn the rear wheels on some blocks, and engage the parking brake, and align the front wheels forward. There is front stabilizer bar, shock absorber, coil spring, and steering knuckle to be removed for a standard pickup truck. Remove the cotter pin of the radius arm to I beam axle nut and then use a spanner to take off this nut and then with the help of a hammer and punch to remove the radius arm to the I beam bolt. Secondly, unbolt the nut and the bolt that are fixed on the I-beam axle arm to the frame pivot bracket, and then, take away the axle arm. To remove the radius arm, there is a bolt and nut at the rear of the arm to the frame bracket should be slackened. Screw in the I-beam axle arm and the radius arm on their brackets at the frame by use of bolts and nuts while leaving some room for tightening. Join the radius Arm to the I-beam axle and fit the bolt and nut which has been tightened to the torque of requirment. Move on to fit the steering knuckle and the coil spring and finally the stabilizer bar. Last, fix the wheel and the lugs nuts and then lower the car and use the star auto to tighten the lugs nuts before closing the I-beam axle and radius arm pivot bolts/nuts to the right torque. They should have a check done on the front end alignment, and if out of alignment, get it realigned.
