    Q:
How do the suspension components differ between the 2003 Ford Expedition? Posted by Customer
    A:
2WD models use coil springs and shock absorbers, while 4WD models utilize shocks and torsion bars. Coil springs are positioned between spring pockets on the frame and lower control arms for 1997-2002 models. In contrast, 2003 and later models have shock absorbers integrated into shock absorber/coil spring assemblies.

    Q:
How do you disconnect and remove the upper control arm, and what components should be inspected during this process for the 2001 Ford Expedition? Posted by Customer
    A:
To disconnect the upper control arm from the steering knuckle, remove the cotter pin from the balljoint castle nut, loosen the nut a few turns (without removing it), use a small puller to break the balljoint loose from the knuckle, and then remove the nut. Afterward, remove the upper control arm pivot bolts and nuts. During this process, inspect the pivot bolt bushings for wear. If they are worn, the control arm needs replacement. Also, inspect the upper balljoint seal. If it's leaking, replace the control arm, as the balljoint itself is not serviceable.

    Q:
What steps should be taken to prepare for the removal of the upper control arm for the 2006 Lincoln Navigator? Posted by Customer
    A:
Position a floor jack with a wood block under the lower control arm to relieve spring pressure from the upper control arm. Mark the position of the upper control arm camber adjustment cam. If the vehicle has a 4-wheel anti-lock brake system (4WABS), remove the bracket bolt for the wheel speed sensor wire and place the sensor wire out of harm's way.

    Q:
How do the steering knuckles differ between the 1998 Lincoln Navigator, and what is their function? Posted by Customer
    A:
While both 2WD and 4WD models have similar steering knuckles, their wheel bearing setups differ. 2WD models use inner and outer tapered roller bearings on a spindle within the steering knuckle, while 4WD models employ sealed hub and bearing assemblies bolted to the knuckle.
