To disconnect the battery, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal followed by the positive terminal. Remove the battery hold down clamp and carefully lift out the heavy battery. If replacing the battery, ensure that the new one has the same dimensions, amperage rating, and cold cranking rating. Transfer the heat shield from the old battery to the new one. To reinstall, connect the positive cable first and the negative cable last. To remove the battery tray, follow the same steps as removing the battery. Additionally, remove the air filter housing and then remove the battery tray fasteners. Lift the tray out of the vehicle. Reinstallation is the reverse of removal.

Maintenance-free batteries may take up to three days to fully recharge.

It is wise to remove the key from the ignition and keep it with you to prevent it from getting locked inside if the power door locks engage accidentally when the battery is reconnected.

The powertrain control module must relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimal performance after the battery is reconnected.

Always turn off the engine and accessories and disconnect cables from the negative battery terminal before servicing the battery to prevent sparks or accidents.

You should inspect the positive terminal and cable clamp for damage and verify that the battery's external condition is good.

Ensure the battery tray and hold-down clamps are in good condition and that the clamps are securely tightened. Avoid overtightening the hold-down clamp bolts.
