Headlamp washers are installed on some models; as the bumper is being removed, disconnect as required. To remove the front bumper cover, apply the parking brake, jack up the front of the vehicle, and support it on axle stands. Remove the radiator grille, then for 2007 and earlier models, take out the two front headlights and disconnect the wiring connectors from the indicator and foglight units. If equipped, remove the radiator lower air deflector. Unscrew the fenderwell liners and the bumper cover from the front fenders. On some models, unbolt and remove the air intake tube and its splash shield to access screws in the left fenderwell. Release the securing clips from the top and bottom of the bumper cover, and with assistance, withdraw the bumper forwards while pulling the sides away from the body to prevent paint damage. For 2008 and later models, remove the air deflector from below the radiator, take out the pushpin retainers from each side, unclip the fog light wiring harness, and remove the top bumper cover retainers accessible with the hood open. Remove the retainers under each headlight, the bumper cover nuts from the braces, and pull outward on the ends of the bumper cover to release it from the fenders. With help, pull the bumper cover forward while releasing it from its brackets. The installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring proper engagement in the brackets. For the rear bumper, except Wagon models from 2007 and earlier, chock the front wheels, jack up the rear, and open the trunk or liftgate. Remove the retaining screws from the upper part of the bumper, the screws securing the fenderwell liners, and unclip the clips from the lower part of the bumper. On Sedan models, unscrew the trims from inside the light units and remove the bumper securing nuts from behind the trims. With assistance, withdraw the bumper rearwards while pulling the sides away from the body to prevent paint damage, and disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear foglight and reversing lamp. For 2008 and later models, raise the vehicle securely on jackstands, remove the tail lights, disconnect the wiring from the license plate light, and remove the screws and plastic retainers from the top of the bumper cover. Remove the retainers from each side of the fender splash shield and the retainers and brace screws from the bottom of the bumper cover. With help, pull outward on the ends of the bumper cover to release it from its brackets, then carefully pull it rearward. For the rear bumper on Wagon models, chock the front wheels, jack up the rear, and open the liftgate and side panel pockets. Remove the screws from the plastic First Aid kit holder, unclip it, and undo the bumper securing nut from behind the trim. Unclip the plastic tray from inside the left-hand pocket and remove the bumper securing nut. Remove the retaining screws from the upper part of the bumper cover, the screws securing the fenderwell liners, and undo the securing nuts behind the fenderwell liners at each corner of the bumper cover. With assistance, withdraw the bumper rearwards from the vehicle. The installation is a reversal of the removal procedure, ensuring that the bumper guides are located correctly and checking all disconnected electrical components.
