    How to remove and install the Cooling Fan and clutch on 2000-2011 Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
    Disconnect the negative battery cable and inspect the fan for excessive play before you check the viscous clutch. Rotate the fan by hand to ascertain it rotates freely then check for fluid leakage. Warm up the engine after reconnecting the battery cable and switch off the ignition. If this is not possible, replace the viscous clutch. Remove this part by undoing all screws that hold the shroud to the radiator after disconnecting the negative battery cable. Thereafter, remove fan/clutch assembly from the engine compartment simply by lifting it out. For V6 engines remove the clutch hub assembly nut then disconnect the negative cable from the battery. If necessary, examine fan blades before you reinstall them, ensuring the nut is tightened evenly on the fan and clutch assembly.
