Removing oil and coolant or, if you are using a car with a metal timing belt, you should remove the drivebelt. After that, remove the fan shroud, the fan and clutch assembly, the water pump pulley, and the lower hose of the radiator. Disconnect the air cleaner intake duct, then sufficiently unbolt the air conditioning compressor from its holder without detaching hoses, raising it aloof while constraining it. Disconnect the tubular power steering pump mounting bracket bolts while the hoses remain attached to the pump. Remove the alternator and its bracket, then remove the water pump, although it can be installed by mating it to the timing cover. Unbolt the crankshaft pulley and damper, and take off the timing cover but before doing so note all the bolts sizes and lengths for reassembly purpose. For installation, remove the cover and replace the front oil seal as the seal can be driven out with a hammer and a suitable driver with a new one. Replacing the cover back and make sure all the bolts are tighten to the standard torque value, it is noted here that all 6mm bolts are of equal size while the 8mm bolts are of different size. Teflon pipe sealant should go around the cover bolts which penetrate the water jacket and a light coat of oil should be applied on the rest of the bolts. To complete this process reverse the steps that have has been followed under the removal process, recharge the cooling system and take the engine for a test through the road to monitor for any possible leaks.
