If only one cylinder head requires removal, disregard the steps for the other cylinder head. For the rear cylinder head, you only need to remove the timing chain, camshafts, and rocker arms from the rear cylinder head; the front can remain installed. If the front cylinder head must be removed, you must first remove the rear timing chain for access to the front chain, while the rear camshafts and rocker arms can remain installed.

Disconnect the accelerator cable and cruise control cable, if equipped.

Temporarily install the crankshaft pulley and rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise so that the Number 1 cylinder's piston is lowered to approximately 20 mm before TDC.

Install the rest of the parts in the reverse order of removal, tightening fasteners to the specified torque values. Fill the engine with fresh engine oil and the cooling system. Reconnect the battery, and note that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) must relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimal performance. Finally, start the engine and check for leaks.
