To carry out this process it is necessary to turn the lug nuts on the front wheel loose, then to lift a car using a jack, put on stands and to block rear wheels, put the parking brake on. Thereafter, deflate the tyre, replace the wheel with the spare, dismantle the front wheel, and discard the cotter pin which was used by loosening the nut on the stud of the tie-rod end. The tie-rod can be separated with the help of a two-jaw puller; both the steering knuckle arm and the nut will have to be removed for this purpose. Tighten the tie-rod end using and wrench and loosen the jam nut enough to mark it position with respect to the threads before removing the tie-rod end to avoid turning of the tie-rod if required. To install, rethread the tie-rod end back to the marked positions and then screw the tie-rod stud into the steering knuckle arm and got the jam nut tight. Place a new nut to the stud and required torque, then placing a new cotter pin and make it until its end bow is straight. Lastly, replace the wheel and the lug nuts, lower the car and then over tighten the lug nuts until you get the right torque; thereafter get an alignment check from a dealer service department or an alignment business.
