For instant with the models 1991 1993 and 1994 first turn the front wheels forward and then remove the negative terminal from the battery. Depress the ignition switch until the steering wheel is unlocked, and put a dish under the Rack And Pinion if you think there is still some fluid in it. Disconnect also the power steering hoses by plugging the ends of the hoses and then disconnect the U-joint shaft coupling shield also. Loosen the nut on the flex coupling that is on the Rack And Pinion, free the front wheel nuts and then jack up the car on stands firmly. Both front wheels ought to be detached. After that the large nut and washer which is fixing the Pitman arm to the sector shaft should be unscrewed, when using the puller in this case in order to prevent damage. Unfasten the nuts on the nuts of the frame to the Rack And Pinion and, gripping the Rack And Pinion, take it out. In installation, lock the input shaft to full left and then full right then back to the centre. Align the front wheels, mount the lower and upper shields, place the flex coupling and tighten bolts that fix the Rack And Pinion to the prescribed torque. Place Pitman arm with the element of the sector shaft and fit new nut and tight the nut. Reconnect the flex coupling on and fit the front wheels, Alt lower, and properly torque the lugs. Join the pressure and return pipes, switch off the supply of fuel, connect the negative terminal of the battery, top up the fluid holding tank, and ensure correct orientation. For the models that are manufactured from 1995 and later, the similar steps should be taken, with the only exception that the car has to be securely standing, and if the car is equipped with the air suspension switch, it has to be turned off. Remove and isolate the negative terminal of the battery, apply a lock nut on the steering column shaft, and unscrew the lower bolt on the same. Optional, if you have access to it, remove the air deflector panel and the stabilizer bar for additional room, disconnect the power steering hoses by unscrewing them and if required, take out the power steering cooler. Remove both tie rod ends, take out the Rack And Pinion from cross-member and examine all brackets for mounting. For reassembly, the Rack And Pinion is to be repositioned along with the cooler and hoses; the tie rods have to be further reconnected; the steering wheel should remain in its place and the rest of the reassembly is done in the similar manner. Last but not the least have your vehicle's alignment checked.
