First pry lose the trim panel and the water shield of the door. Some two-door cars require the removal of a retaining clip from the control rod, and then the removal of the rod from the latch assembly. For four-door or station wagon models, the outer handle control rod to the latch bracket assembly is clipped; pull the clip and take out the rod. Cover the Door Handle opening with tape and pad when painting the area or use a piece of wooden to keep the handle in an opened position. Size and start at the center of pop-rivet with suitable size drift and then drill out the remainder of it. Pull out the piece of wood and pull out the door handle from the door. Insert the door handle with control rod into the holes in case of two door models and only the door handle in case of four door as well as station wagon models. Stand the handle with the open end up and put a piece of wood underneath it, put the two pop-rivets on and take out the piece of wood. For the two doors, fix the control rod, at the latch lever and for four doors as well as the station wagon models, fix the control rod into the hole in the latch while the other end of the control rod is fitted into the latch bracket assembly. Open the lights and make sure that all lights are in proper order and finally, remove the tape or paddings coupled with the door. Last, put the water shield then the door trim panel as the final part of the project.
