    Q:
How to remove and install a A/C Condenser on Ford Edge? Posted by Customer
    A:
The air conditioning condenser has an integrated receiver/drier, equipped with a receiver/drier desiccant bag. The receiver/drier desiccant bag may be removed and replaced with a new one (available from the dealer). Have the air conditioning system discharged by a dealer service department or an automotive air conditioning shop before proceeding. Remove the radiator. For 2014 and earlier models, disconnect the refrigerant inlet and outlet pipes from the condenser and cap the lines to prevent contamination. For V6 models, in addition to disconnecting the refrigerant pipes, remove the bolt and rivet securing the refrigerant pipe block. Remove the transaxle cooler outlet line secondary latch covering the fitting and disconnect and remove the transaxle cooler line using a quick disconnect special tool. For 2015 and later models, remove the cooling module. Disengage the condenser side seal fasteners, remove the condenser mounting bolts, and slide the condenser assembly up and off of the radiator. Remove the condenser, if not already done, and store it with the line fittings facing up. If installing a new condenser, pour one ounce of refrigerant oil into it prior to installation. Before reconnecting the refrigerant lines to the condenser, coat a pair of new O-rings with refrigerant oil, install them in the refrigerant line fittings, and tighten the condenser inlet and outlet nuts to the specified torque. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal. Have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged it. To replace the receiver/drier desiccant bag, remove the condenser as previously described and remove the threaded plug at the bottom left of the condenser. Using needle nose pliers, pull the desiccant bag out of the receiver drier and insert a new bag. Install the plug and tighten it to the specified torque.
