First, you have to unscrew the lug nuts, then jack up the car and make sure that it is well supported using jack stands and finally, you can then remove the wheel. Then, the tie-rod end should be taken off next, Loosen the band-type clamp on the outer rack and pinion boot clamp and remove the same using a pair of pliers. Take off the inner boot clamp by snapping it with diagonal cutters and then removing the boot. The threads and serration of the end of the steering rod should be covered with cloth or tape when fitting the new boot in order to avoid damaging the small end of the boot. Fit the new boot into the required position on the rack and pinion and afterward ensure that it rests in the groove on the steering rod and then install the new clamps. Pull the tape and now fit the tie-rod end. Last but not least, fix the wheel and lug nuts on the car, lift the car off the ground and finally, tighten the lug nuts to the required torque.
