For the removal and installation of the lock cylinder on the 1983-88 models, disconnect the negative battery connection, then the trim shroud and the electrical connector of the key warning switch. Rotate the lock cylinder to the RUN position, and then using a ¼ in. Using 3mm diameter pin or small drift punch tap the holes of 4 o'clock and 1¼ inch. Move the lock cylinder 31.75mm from the outer edge of the lock cylinder housing so as to depress the retaining pin and then remove the lock cylinder. Lubriplate or equivalent should be applied to the cylinder cavity and the drive gear For installation, the lock cylinder should be turned to the RUN position the retaining pin should be depressed and locked into position in the housing should be aligned properly.
