To remove the clutch master cylinder, first clamp a pair of locking pliers onto the clutch fluid feed hose a couple of inches downstream of the brake fluid reservoir to prevent fluid flow, then disconnect the reservoir hose from the clutch master cylinder. Next, under the dashboard, disconnect the pushrod from the pedal by removing the clip and washer, followed by removing the mounting bolts to detach the cylinder from the clutch pedal bracket. Pull the cylinder forward to release the line clip at the hydraulic line fitting and separate the hydraulic line, also detaching the reservoir feed hose. Have rags ready to catch any fluid loss and cap the ends of the lines to prevent leakage and contamination, taking care to avoid brake fluid contact with paint. For installation, connect the hydraulic line fitting to the clutch master cylinder and install the retaining clip, then attach the fluid feed hose and tighten the hose clamp before removing the locking pliers. Position the master cylinder on the clutch pedal bracket, install the mounting bolts finger tight, and then install the pushrod, washer, and clip onto the clutch pedal pin. Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque, fill the reservoir with brake fluid that meets DOT 3 specifications, and bleed the clutch system.
