    Q:
What if the radiator fan motor is okay, but it isn't coming on when the engine gets hot for the 2011 Ford Escape? Posted by Customer
    A:
In this case, the problem might be with the fan relay. Locate the fan relays in the engine compartment fuse/relay box and test the relay. If the relay is okay, check all wiring and connections to the fan motor. If no obvious problems are found, the issue could be related to the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor or the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Have the cooling fan system and circuit diagnosed by a dealer service department or repair shop with the proper diagnostic equipment.

    Q:
How do I remove the radiator fan and motor for replacement for the 2010 Mercury Mariner? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the radiator fan and motor, follow these steps: 1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. 2. Disconnect the fan motor electrical connector(s). 3. Raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. 4. Drain the cooling system, saving the coolant if it's relatively new and still in good condition. 5. Remove the hood latch and the upper radiator hose. 6. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the upper radiator hose. If the hose is stuck, use adjustable pliers to twist and break the seal before pulling it off. Consider installing a new hose if it's old or deteriorated. 7. Remove the center support bolts and lift the center support from the engine compartment. 8. Remove the left and right upper radiator support brackets to tilt the radiator forward for additional clearance. 9. Detach the wire harness from the fan shroud, and remove the upper and lower fan shroud mounting bolts. 10. Carefully lift the fan motor and shroud out of the engine compartment as a single assembly. 11. Remove the fan mounting screws. To detach the fan blade from the motor, remove the nut or retaining clip from the motor shaft. 12. Separate the fan blade from the motor and then detach the motor from the shroud by removing the retaining bolts. 13. Installation is the reverse of removal. Ensure that the rubber air shields around the shroud are in place for efficient cooling system operation.
