Disconnect the battery cable to remove the oil pan, take off the air cleaner assembly, fan shroud, dipstick for oil level, oil level sensor switch, vacuum solenoids, and exhaust crossover pipe, and disconnect the transmission cooler lines, torque converter cover, starter motor fuel lines, and steering gear bolts. Loosen transmission mount nuts, remove the front engine mount through bolts, and lift the engine slightly with a jack. Place wooden blocks between mounts and subframe; remove oil pan mounting bolts. Use a rubber mallet or wood block and hammer to separate the pan from the block. Remove the oil pump and pick up the tube fasteners.

Remove the oil filter.

Place the oil pan gasket on the oil pan. The gasket has alignment tabs that will keep it in place on the oil pan.

Remove the fan shroud mounting bolts and position the shroud back over the fan.

Reach in between the oil pan and the cylinder block, and remove the oil pump pickup tube/screen bolts. The oil pick-up tube and screen must be unbolted at the number two main cap and remove the two bolts at the oil pump body. Lower the pick-up into the pan and remove the tube and screen with the oil pan.

Remove the oil level dipstick and disconnect the oil level sensor switch on the side of the oil pan (if equipped).
