    Carefully position the pan against the engine block and install the bolts finger tight. When all of the pan-to-engine bolts are started, tighten the bolts to the torque, removing the two alignment studs and replacing them with pan bolts. Follow the correct sequence (oil pan bolt tightening sequence). After the pan-to-engine bolts are tightened, install and tighten the pan-to-transmission bolts.

    Loosen the following bolts 3/16-inch: the four upper bellhousing bolts, the bellhousing bolt above the starter motor, the two mounting bolts on the left side of the bellhousing, and the two nuts in the center of the transmission crossmember. Move the transmission rearward as allowed by the loosened fasteners.
