    Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump in V8 engine on Ford Expedition? Posted by Customer
    A:
The oil pump is available only as a complete replacement unit, with no service parts or repair specifications provided by the manufacturer. To remove the oil pump, first raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then drain the engine oil. Unbolt and lower the oil pan without completely removing it, and detach the two bolts that connect the oil pump pick-up tube to the oil pump. Next, remove the timing chain cover, timing chains, chain guides, and crankshaft sprockets. After that, take out the four oil pump mounting bolts and separate the pump from the engine block, noting that 2005 and later Expedition/Navigator 5.4L engines have three mounting bolts. For installation, inspect the O-ring gasket on the pick-up tube and replace it if damaged. Install the oil pump onto the engine and tighten the bolts to the specified torque, ensuring to prime the oil pump by pouring clean oil into the pick-up port and turning the pump by hand. Finally, complete the installation in reverse order, fill the engine with the appropriate type and quantity of oil, start the engine, and check for leaks.

    Q:
How is the oil pump mounted and How to its remove and install in V6 engine on Lincoln Navigator? Posted by Customer
    A:
The oil pump is mounted externally on the timing chain cover. Begin by detaching the oil filter. Next, remove the cover and 0-ring, then extract the gears from the cavity in the timing chain cover, making the oil pump cover bolts accessible after the filter is removed. Discard the 0-ring and clean the oil pump cavity; if the oil pump gear pocket in the timing chain cover is damaged or worn, replace the timing chain cover. Remove all traces of gasket material from the oil pump cover and check for warpage using a straightedge and feeler gauges; if warped more than 0.0016-inch, replace it. To remove the pressure relief valve, detach the timing chain cover from the engine, drill a hole in the plug, and pry it out or use a slide hammer and screw adapter. Remove the spring and valve from the bore, ensuring all metal chips are cleared and checking for wear, score marks, and galling; if the bore is worn or damaged, a new timing chain cover is necessary, and the valve should fit without noticeable side play or binding. If the spring appears fatigued or collapsed, replace it. Apply clean engine oil to the valve and install it in the bore, small end first, followed by the spring and a new plug, tapping it in until it's 0.010-inch below the machined surface of the cover. The oil pump pickup tube is located inside the oil pan, so remove the oil pan for access, then take off the pick-up tube nut and the two mounting bolts. When reinstalling, replace the gasket at the front. Measure the clearance between the rotors and the pump housing using feeler gauges, and also measure the clearance over the rotors. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to fill the oil pump with clean engine oil before installation, install a new cover 0-ring lubricated with clean oil, and tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern. Use a new pick-up tube gasket and securely tighten the mounting bolts.

    Q:
How to remove and install an oil pump on Lincoln Town Car Overhead cam(OHC) engine? Posted by Customer
    A:
The oil pump is available as a complete replacement unit only. No service parts or repair specifications are available from the manufacturer. Unbolt and lower the oil pan. It's not necessary to completely remove the oil pan. Remove the two bolts that attach the oil pump pick-up tube to the oil pump. Remove the timing cover, timing chains, chain guides and crankshaft sprockets. Remove the four oil pump mounting bolts and separate the pump from the block. Prime the oil pump prior to installation. Pour clean oil into the pick-up port and turn the pump by hand. Inspect the 0-ring gasket on the pick-up tube, if damaged replace it. Install the oil pump to the engine and tighten the bolts to the torque. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal procedure. Fill the engine with the correct type and quantity of oil. Start the engine and check for leaks.

    Q:
How to remove and install an oil pump on Lincoln Town Car Overhead valve (OHV)engines? Posted by Customer
    A:
Unbolt and lower the oil pan. Remove the oil pick-up tube-to-main bearing cap nut. Remove the oil pump pick-up tube mounting bolts. Remove the oil pump mounting bolts and lower the oil pump assembly into the oil pan and lift them both out together. If the pump is faulty, or you suspect that it's faulty, install a new one - do not attempt to repair the original. As complete oil pumps, new or remanufactured, have become more inexpensive, reliable and readily available, service parts for oil pump overhaul/repair have become increasingly difficult and unnecessary to find. Prime the oil pump prior to installation. Pour clean oil into the pick-up and turn the pump shaft by hand. If you separated the pump from the pick-up tube, use a new gasket and tighten the bolts securely when reattaching them. As the pump is reinstalled, fit the oil pump driveshaft into the pump. It must seat all the way. DO NOT try to force it. If it doesn't align, turn the pump slightly and try again. Install the mounting bolts/nut and tighten them.

How do you replace the oil pump on Mercury Grand Marquis? Posted by Customer
    A:
The oil pump is available only as a complete replacement unit, with no service parts or repair specifications provided by the manufacturer. Begin by unbolting and lowering the oil pan, ensuring it does not need to be completely removed. Next, detach the two bolts connecting the oil pump pick-up tube to the oil pump. Proceed to remove the timing cover, timing chains, chain guides, and crankshaft sprockets. Then, take out the four oil pump mounting bolts and remove the oil pump from the engine block. Before installation, prime the oil pump by pouring clean oil into the pick-up port and turning the pump by hand. Inspect the O-ring gasket on the pick-up tube and replace it if damaged. Install the oil pump back into the engine, tightening the bolts to the specified torque. Complete the installation by reversing the removal procedure, filling the engine with the appropriate type and quantity of oil, starting the engine, and checking for leaks.

    Q:
How do you remove and reinstall the oil pump assembly on Ford Crown Victoria? Posted by Customer
    A:
Unbolt and lower the oil pan. Remove the oil pick-up tube-to-main bearing cap nut. Remove the oil pump pick-up tube mounting bolts and the two bolts to detach the oil pick-up tube. Remove the oil pump mounting bolts and lower the oil pump assembly into the oil pan, lifting them all out together. If the pump is faulty or suspected to be faulty, install a new one instead of attempting to repair the original. Prime the oil pump prior to installation by pouring clean oil into the pick-up and turning the pump shaft by hand. If the pump is separated from the pick-up tube, use a new gasket and tighten the bolts securely when reattaching them. As the pump is reinstalled, fit the oil pump driveshaft into the pump, ensuring it seats all the way without forcing it; if it doesn't align, turn the pump slightly and try again. Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump in gasoline engine on Ford Excursion? Posted by Customer
    A:
Current supplies of the oil pump come only as an overhaul kit and hence no service elements of the pump nor any recommended repair procedures are available in the names of the manufacturer. To remove the oil pump the vehicle must be raised and secured on jackstands, also, the engine oil must be removed. Raise the oil pan slightly and unbolt it but do not remove it; undo the two bolts which connect the oil pump pick-up tube to the oil pump. However, before you do this pull off the timing chain cover, timing chains, chain guides, and crankshaft timing chain sprockets. Then, unscrew the four oil pump screws and pull the pump off the engine head or block as it may be. During installation, check at the pick-up tube O-ring gasket and replace it if it is worn out. Insert the oil pump into the engine and fasten the bolts as tightly as possible following the recommended torque setting; for priming the oil-pump, pour clean oil into the pick-up port and rotate the pump manually. At last, retract the installation sequence in order, add the right types and measures of oil in the engine, start the engine; search for leaks.
