To remove the power steering pump, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, remove the coolant expansion tank and reposition it without disconnecting the hoses. Disconnect various electrical connectors, such as the power steering pressure switch, camshaft position sensor, oxygen sensor, A/C pressure switch, and cooling fan. Remove the nuts holding the wire harness to the engine and position the harness aside. Detach any hose brackets that may interfere with pump removal. Use a syringe or suction gun to remove as much fluid as possible from the power steering fluid reservoir, and place a drain pan underneath to catch any spills. Remove the drivebelt and unbolt the power steering fluid reservoir, setting it aside. Disconnect the supply hose and pressure line fitting from the pump. Finally, remove the pump mounting bolts by rotating the pulley for access. For installation, replace the O-ring seals with new ones, tighten all fasteners to the specified torque, fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid, and bleed the power steering hydraulic system.
