    Q:
How do you remove a water pump on Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and draining the cooling system to remove the water pump. Depending on the engine type, you may need to loosen the water pump pulley bolts or remove the drive belt. Remove necessary components such as the wheel, fender splash shield, air filter housing, turbocharger inlet pipe, drive belt tensioner, and timing belt, and disconnect the electric connector for the water pump clutch. Take out the pump by removing the water pump mounting bolts. Clean gasket and O-ring surfaces present on both of them as well as on housing and get rid of any debris. To fix a new gasket in place use RTV sealant and coat O-rings with clean coolant. Once you have installed the new water pump, tighten the bolts and follow the remaining steps in reverse order. Run the engine to see if there are any leaks.

    Q:
How do I remove the water pump on Ford Taurus? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before removing the water pump, make sure to disconnect the negative battery cable and drain the cooling system. For 2007 and earlier models with a 3.5L V6 engine, detach the thermostat housing and bypass tube coolant hose and take out the mounting bolts before moving it aside. First, unscrew and remove the center mounting bolt then discard the sealing washer. Finally, remove the water pump ensuring all traces of gasket and sealant are cleaned off. In 2008 and later models with this engine, you have to remove the timing chain to access the water pump itself. As for 2.0L four-cylinder engines, plastic must be used to cover accessory drive belt. Afterward, you should proceed by removing each of these pulley bolts that are on top of water pumps which eventually lead to removal itself. Ensure that all old gasket material is removed as well before re-installing new ones on place after applying a thin film of RTV sealant securing these new gaskets as well as O-rings by coating them using clean coolant. For 2007 and earlier 3.5L V6 models, tighten the water pump mounting bolts in order given attaching torque specifications.

    Q:
How do you install the new water pump on the 2007 Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer
    A:
For 2.7L V6 models, remove and clean the mating surface on the front cover. Lubricate and install a new grommet into the backside of the pump. Lubricate and install a new O-ring gasket into the groove along the timing chain cover sealing surface. Verify the dowel pins are still remaining in the front cover. Install the water pump and tighten the bolts evenly, following the specified torque sequence.
