    You should not reuse the ECT sensor and always install a new one. For 1.5L and 1.6L, remove the engine cover, expansion tank, and air filter housing to access the sensor on the thermostat housing. Disconnect the connector, remove the clip, and pull out the sensor.

    First of all, unlike the coolant temperature sensor, the 3.5L V6 and four-cylinder engines are fitted with a cylinder head temperature sensor. The temperature gauge or warning light on the dashboard and a coolant temperature sending unit on the engine form part of the coolant temperature indicator system. For instance, for some Ford models, CHT or ECT sensors play a role in assisting PCM and they are also responsible for sending information about coolant temperature to a gauge.
