Applicable only to V6 models, this procedure demands a particular instrument, unless with manufacturer tool no 307-351 or a tool of the same standard, and sensor adjustment may result in a trouble code and driveability problems. It is advisable to start by engaging the parking brake and shift the transmission lever to Neutral position. The battery and battery tray can be taken out, as can the air filter housing and air intake duct. If you are working over the engine perform all the above operations on the upper side while removing the engine coolant and taking off the thermostat housing. Take off the electrical connector of the TR sensor and thereafter loose the bolts to come out with the sensor. To install simply push the special tool over the sensor such that the two prongs are pushed into the notches in the rotating ring. Put the sensor in a proper position with the projections of the sensor in a line with the slots of the shaft, then proceed to install the sensor and screw the bolts till they are tight. Take out the special tool and reestablish the connection of the electrical connector. The following steps needs to be followed to complete the procedure in reverse of the above said steps: Replace the drained coolant with the fresh one. After joining the battery, and depending on the situation, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will have to relearn the idle and fuel trim in a bid to provide higher fuel induced driveability and performance.

A special tool (manufacturer tool no. 307-351, or equivalent) is required for this procedure. Without it, you may not be able to adjust the sensor properly, which could set a trouble code and cause driveability problems.
