    Q:
How should the driveshaft be reinstalled for the 2008 Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
Installation is the reverse of the removal steps with the following additions: a) On 2WD models, slide the front of the driveshaft into the transmission. b) On 4WD models, position the front end of the driveshaft on the transfer case with the alignment marks lined up. c) Raise the rear of the driveshaft into position, checking to ensure the marks are in alignment. If not, make sure the transmission is still in Neutral, then turn the rear wheels to match the pinion flange and the driveshaft. d) On 2011 models, tighten the driveshaft-to-axle bolts in a crisscross pattern, to the torque.

    Q:
What maintenance is required for the driveshaft assembly for the 2009 Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The driveshaft assembly requires very little service. The universal joints on models not equipped with grease fittings are lubricated for life and must be replaced if problems develop. The driveshaft(s) must be removed from the vehicle for this procedure.

    Q:
Why is it important to keep the driveshaft clean for the 2006 Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
Since the driveshaft is a balanced unit, it's important that no undercoating, mud, etc., be allowed to stay on it.

    A:
Installation is the reverse of the removal steps with the following additions: Raise the front of the driveshaft into position, ensuring the marks are in alignment. If not, make sure the transmission is still in Neutral, then turn the front wheels to line up the marks. Remove the tape securing the bearing cups and install the straps and bolts. Tighten the bolts to the torque specifications. On 2011 models, tighten the driveshaft-to-transfer case bolts in a crisscross pattern, to the torque specifications.
