    How to remove and install a driveshaft, and why does the manufacturer recommend replace driveshaft fasteners on Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer

    It is advised that during assembly, driveshaft fasteners should be replaced with new ones recommended by the manufacturer. Start by lifting the car on jackstands and providing proper support to it, while the selector level should be in neutral position only. Then unbolt the ground strap if any is there and then detach the exhaust Y-pipe. Chalk or a scribe should be used when the position of the driveshaft to the differential pinion yoke is such that, outlines should be made to allow for the repositioning of the driveshaft. Go ahead and take out the bolts that hold the universal joint flange to the differential pinion yoke Then at the front of the driveshaft remove the bolts hold the driveshaft to the transaxle or transfer case. Two nuts which hold two center support bearings must be unscrewed. With help, slowly, remove the driveshaft out of the car. For removal it will be vice versa, but the main point is that the universal joint caps must be placed tightly on the flange and then fasteners have to be tightened with the necessary torque.
