    Q:
What steps are involved in removing the drive axle from the 2014 Ford Edge? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the drive axle: Remove the drive axle/hub nut while applying the brakes. Disconnect the brake hose bracket and wheel speed sensor wiring harness from the shock absorber. Remove the lower ball joint nut and bolt to separate the lower control arm from the steering knuckle. Use a drive hub remover to separate the drive axle from the hub, and secure the knuckle assembly out of the way with wire. Depending on the model, follow specific instructions: On 2014 and earlier models (right-side drive axle), strike the inner face of the inner CV joint with a brass drift. On 2015-2018 models and 2019 FWD models (right-side drive axle), remove the support bearing retaining strap nuts and pull out the right-side axle assembly. On 2019 AWD models (right-side drive axle), use a prybar to free the end of the drive axle from the intermediate shaft. For the left-side drive axle, use a drive axle remover or pry the inner CV joint out of the transaxle. Carefully support the CV joints and remove the drive axle from the vehicle.

    Q:
What are the steps for removing and installing the rear drive axle on the 2007 Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer
    A:
For rear drive axle removal on AWD models: Block the front wheels. Remove the rear wheel, wheel speed sensor, brake caliper, and brake disc. Remove the drive axle/hub nut. Use a drive hub remover to separate the drive axle from the wheel hub. On 2011 and later models, remove the hub and bearing assembly and rear knuckle. Pry out the inner end of the drive axle from the differential and remove it. For installation: Replace the spring clip. Apply grease to the seal area and insert the drive axle into the differential, ensuring the spring clip locks. Install the hub and bearing assembly, securing the drive axle with a new drive axle/hub nut. Tighten the nut with the brake applied, remove and discard it, then replace it with a new nut, tightening it promptly. Complete the installation, install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts.
