    Q:
What precautions and steps should be followed when dealing with spark plug maintenance on Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
Certain precautions and steps must be followed when dealing with spark plug maintenance. To avoid damaging the engine threads or the spark plugs, it is important to work on a warm engine. Tools needed for replacing a spark plug include a torque wrench and ratchet, extension, socket, and spark plug gap gauge. The new plugs should be bought in advance with their gaps adjusted as required. Engines must completely cool down before removing any plugs; however, this is not the case for some engines that should be left warm. Use a wire-type gap gauge to check the gap and then adjust it accordingly. V8 and OHC V6 engines may require the removal of individual ignition coils prior to gaining access to the spark plugs. Pressurized air is ideal for clearing debris out of a spark plug hole. Apply anti-seize compound to threads of new plugs before installation takes place. Examine the ignition coil or wire prior to attaching them onto a plug. repeat this process with the remaining plugs too.

    Q:
What is the procedure for removing the ignition coils and spark plugs for the 2010 Ford Taurus? Posted by Customer
    A:
All models are equipped with individual ignition coils that must be removed first to access the spark plugs. If compressed air is available, use it to blow any dirt or foreign material away from the spark plug hole. Place the spark plug socket over the plug and remove it from the engine by turning it in a counterclockwise direction.
