    To remove the rear spring, while standing firmly on the ground, lift the vehicle until the weight is off the rear springs then secure it on jack-stands and use a jack to support the rear axle in any position, do not stand under a vehicle that is supported only on a jack. Finally, take out the nut and bolt that holds the lower end of the shock to the spring plate, so as to compress the shock and bring it out of the working area. Take off the nuts of the U-bolts, thereafter, the U-bolts and spring plate. Loosen the bolts and nuts which were used to fix the shackle assembly to the rear of the spring, thus the spring will tilt down on the floor. Take out the spring hanger bolt and nut at the front of the spring then pull out the spring. Visually check the condition of the spring eye bushings for signs of wear or distortion in the radial or axial direction; if severely worn, replace at a dealership or equipped shop. To install, insert the spring into the rear shackle and use another bolt and nut tightened only with fingers. Place the spring to the front bracket and use the bolt and nut and screw them loosely. Place the rear shackle on the frame, so that it has to be fixed with a bolt and nut, which should be tightened using fingers only. Place the axle to the spring, fit the spring-seat making sure that the spring tie-bolt is in the right hole, then put the U-bolts and nuts in place and tighten by hand. Last of all, drop off the vehicle on its tyres and then fasten the spring bracket bolt and nut and nut, the two shackle bolts and nut and the two U-bolt nuts by using a criss-cross pattern to the advised torque.

    In order to get the rear spring out one has to lift the vehicle from the rear to take the weight off the rear springs but the tires should remain on the ground, if the vehicle has Automatic Ride Control the air suspension switch should be turned off. Park the car on a flat ground, block the wheels and raise the rear axle with a jack to work on it, do not attempt to work under a car that is supported by only a jack. Next unscrew the nut and bolt which hold the lower end of the shock absorber to the spring plate then compress the shock and swing it aside. Take out the nuts from U-bolts; then undo the U-bolts and the spring plate. Remove the bolts, and nuts that are holding the shackle assembly on the back side of the spring, this makes the spring to drop down on the floor by folding. Finally take out the small spring that connects the hanger and spring at the front of the spring; do this by unscrewing the spring hanger bolt and nut. Check the springs and check the spring eye bushings for wearing or becoming distorted and replace if needed. For installation set the spring in place in the rear shackle lining up the thru-bolt and nut and making the connection finger tight. Screw in the spring in the front bracket so that the bolt and nut are tightened only enough so they can easily be turned with the fingers. Place the rear shackle on the frame, put the bolt and the nut and only screw the nut by hand until it is tight. Place the desired axle in the spring, fit the spring seat, with spring tie-bolt in the preferred hole and fix the U-bolt and nuts and tighten to a finger tight stage. Last, lower the vehicle to its weight on the tires and then tighten the spring bracket bolt and nut with a nut to the increase torque values and the shackle bolts and nuts and increase torque to the U-bolt nuts.
