Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jack stands while blocking the rear wheels to prevent rolling. Remove the front wheels, then support the axle with a floor jack placed under the axle tube and raise it slightly to take the weight of the axle. If removing the left side leaf spring, detach the lower end of the shock absorber from the spring plate. Remove the four U-bolt nuts, the spring plate, and the two U-bolts. At the front end of the spring, remove the nut and bolt from the spring-to-front bracket, noting that on some models it may be necessary to unbolt and remove the condenser mounting bracket to allow the spring mounting bolt to be removed. At the rear end of the spring, remove the lower spring-to-shackle nut and bolt. Remove the spring assembly, prying the ends of the spring out of the shackle and front mounting bracket if necessary. If the bushings at the ends of the spring are worn or deteriorated, an automotive machine shop or repair facility can press the old ones out and press new ones in. Installation is the reverse of removal, gradually tightening the U-bolt nuts in a criss-cross pattern to the specified torque, and do not tighten the spring-to-front bracket bolt/nut or the spring-to-shackle bolt/nut until the vehicle has been lowered. If working on the left side, reconnect the lower end of the shock absorber to the spring plate. Install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque, then tighten the spring-to-front bracket bolt/nut and the spring-to-shackle bolt/nut to the specified torque.

Install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle to the ground, and tighten the spring bracket bolt and nut, spring U-bolts, and shackle-to-frame bracket bolt and nut to the specified torque values. Finally, tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
