    How to remove and install the drag link on Ford Explorer? Posted by Customer

    Before removing the drag link, unbolt the front side of the Land Cruiser from the ground, put it on supports, block the rear wheels, engage the parking brake, and ensure that the front wheels are aligned to the longitudinal axis of the car. Subsequently, unbolt the cotter pins and nuts that hold the drag link to the connecting rod and the Pitman arm and use a Pitman arm puller nor balljoint separator to pull off the drag link. Release the clamping of the right tie-rod adjusting sleeve by using the clamp bolts, then locate and make a record on the drag link's thread subsequent to the right tie-rod adjusting sleeve. Unc countersink the drag link from the adjusting sleeve. For installation, place the drag link on the right tie-rod adjusting sleeve and screw it in until the ribs which have been made earlier coincide. Screw the drag link ball stud to the Pitman arm and steer the front wheels while ensuring the front wheels as well as the steering wheel are straight; the ball ends should fit well into their respective places. Put new nuts on the studs of the Pitman arm and connecting rod and tighten according to the prescribed torque and on the new cotter pins bend the ends over completely. Thereafter, adjust the right tie-rod adjusting sleeve clamp bolts to the required torque and fit the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts to the right torque. Last but not the least take the front end of the car for the alignment check in a dealer service section or in an alignment shop.
