This procedure is for the 2008 and earlier models as the later models are equipped with an electronically controlled throttle body thus no idle control valve. For four-cylinder models, start from the removal of the cable from the battery's negative terminal; alternatively, lift the front of the car and put it on jackstands. Remove the intake manifold: Idle Control Valve is mounted at the underside of the intake manifold locate its electrical connector and remove it and also the two Idle Control Valve mounting bolts that helps to pull the Idle Control Valve out of the intake manifold. Subsequently, the old gasket must be taken out and replaced with the new gasket and tighten the bolt to the recommended torque and reconnect the electrical connector. Lower the car and connect the battery terminal back again. After this, the Powertrain Control Module requires an opportunity to learn new idle as well as fuel trim, for top performance. To V6 models first remove the battery cable then look for the Idle Control Valve located on top of the intake manifold around the throttle body. As seen disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the mounting bolts in order to pull off the Idle Control Valve. Remove the old gasket, replace it with a new one, for it to fit properly the Idle Control Valve is then refined and the bolts tightened to the right torque. Last but not the least, join the battery cable and let the Powertrain Control Module learn the correct idle and fuel trim for the best performance.

This procedure applies only to 2008 and earlier models. Later models have an electronically-operated throttle body that does not require an idle air control valve.
