    Q:
How to remove and replace the air filter on Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
If you have a model from 2004-2008, the air filter is on the right side of the engine compartment in its own housing for 4.2 and 4.6L models or in the center for 5.4L models. To replace the filter on 4.2 or 4.6L engines, simply loosen the clamp securing the inlet tube, release the housing clamps, separate the cover halves, and remove old filter, while on 5.4L engines simply release the clamps; slide the tray assembly outwards then remove the filter. For models built between 2009 and 2010, firstly loosen the clamp disconnect the MAF sensor, release the housing clamps then separate the cover before removing the used air filter. Inspect/Clean/Replace as necessary; Do not drop anything inside the housing when working. Never drive without an air cleaner. Wipe down the outside of the case with a clean rag after changing the element.

    Q:
What are the instructions for replacing the MAF sensor and air filter in a Ford Expedition? Posted by Customer
    A:
The MAF sensor is attached to the air filter housing. Do not stretch or bend the wiring to the MAF sensor while replacing the sensor. The air filter is located inside a housing at the left (driver's) side of the engine compartment. To remove the air filter, release the clamp that secures the two halves of the air cleaner housing together, then separate the cover halves and remove the air filter element. On 2007 and later Expedition/Navigator models, reach under the connector and pull back the retaining clip, then disconnect the connector before pulling up the air filter housing. Inspect the outer surface of the filter element. If it is dirty, replace it. If it is only moderately dusty, it can be reused by blowing it clean from the back to the front surface with compressed air. Because it is a pleated paper type filter, it cannot be washed or oiled. If it cannot be cleaned satisfactorily with compressed air, discard and replace it. While the cover is off, be careful not to drop anything down into the housing. Never drive the vehicle with the air cleaner removed. Excessive engine wear could result and backfiring could even cause a fire under the hood. Wipe out the inside of the air cleaner housing. Place the new filter into the air cleaner housing, making sure it seats properly. Installation of the housing is the reverse of removal.
