    Q:
How do you remove and install a transaxle mount on Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer
    A:
Insert a large screwdriver or prybar between the mount and the transaxle and pry up, ensuring the transaxle does not move excessively away from the mount; if it does, replace the mount. Remove the battery and battery tray, followed by the air filter housing. Supporting the transaxle with a floor jack, remove the through-bolt nut and bolt along with the mount-to-chassis bolts, then take out the mount, raising the transaxle slightly if necessary to provide enough clearance. After removing the remaining mount bolts, installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring all mount fasteners are installed before tightening any of them.

    Q:
Should engine mounts be replaced immediately if they are broken or deteriorated on Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer
    A:
Engine mounts seldom require attention, but broken or deteriorated mounts should be replaced immediately to avoid damage or wear on driveline components. During the check, the engine must be raised slightly to remove the weight from the mounts. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then position a jack under the engine oil pan with a large wood block between the jack head and the oil pan to prevent damage, carefully raising the engine just enough to take the weight off the mounts. Inspect the mount for cracked, hardened rubber or separation from the bushing in the center, and check for relative movement between the mount and the engine or chassis using a large screwdriver or prybar. If movement is noted, lower the engine and tighten the mount fasteners. To replace the mount, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, remove the engine splash shield fasteners and shield, and take out the coolant expansion tank. Place a floor jack under the engine with a wood block between the jack head and oil pan, then raise the engine slightly to relieve the weight from the mount. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir nuts and set the reservoir aside, disengage the wiring harness retainer from the valve cover stud, and move the harness out of the way. Detach the mount from the frame and engine by removing the fasteners, ensuring not to disconnect more than one mount at a time, except during engine removal. Installation follows the reverse order of removal, using thread-locking compound on the mount bolts and ensuring they are tightened securely.
