To check the balljoints, ensure front wheel bearings are adjusted correctly on 1988-1991 models. Clean grease fitting and checking surface, check if it projects outside the cover. Raise vehicle, support with floor jacks under lower control arms, check for axial movement using prybar under tire; replace if exceeds 3/64-inch. Check for radial play by moving tire toward and away from vehicle by hand; replace if exceeds 1/64-inch. Replacement procedures vary by model and year.
