    Q:
How to remove and install Hazard Warning Switch,Ignition Lock Cylinder,Ignition Switch,Turn Signal Switch and Window Switch on Ford Focus? Posted by Customer
    A:
To get at the ignition switch and lock barrel one has to first remove the steering wheel trim and lower dash panel. Insert the ignition key and turn it to supply the 'accessories' position then, use a thin-head screwdriver or a twist drill to push the lock plunger down and remove the lock barrel. In case of replacing a lock cylinder on a vehicle equipped with PATS immobilizer the keys must be reprogrammed at the dealer level. If this lock cylinder is jammed or spoilt then the whole unit of steering column lock has to be replaced. On the other side of the steering column the switch can be taken off after unplugging the multi plug and by unscrewing the switch releasing tabs. For models, with the PATS immobilizer system, the immobilizer transceiver can be removed by disconnecting the wiring plug as well as the securing screw is to be unscrewed. For the direction indicator and the wiper multi-function switched on 2007 and the earlier models remove the upper shroud of the lower shroud, press the black tab at the top of the switch, and raise the switch together wearing the multi-plug. For all 2008+ models, the lower steering column trim panel will have to be removed, and the wiring from the multi-function switch will have to be disconnected prior to the removal of the switch mounting screws. For the headlight, auxiliary foglight, and rear foglight combination switch installed on 2007 and earlier models, remove the lower dash panel on driver side, the screw on light switch bezel and the mounting screws of the switch unit then releasing the switch and disconnecting its multi-plug. On 2008 and later models, push the switch outward from behind the instrument panel, and remove the wiring harness. For the hazard warning switch of 2007 and earlier models, the radio/cassette player should be detached, the heater control panel un-snapped; the switch assembly should be pulled out while the multi-plug is disconnected. In its performance, when replacing the electrically-operated window switches, it is recommended that one gently take out the small black piece (which is actually holding the screw), removes the screw and get rid of the window operating switches from the bezel for the models up to 2007, while for the 2008 and the subsequent models, use the trim tool to raise the rear portion of the switch panel and then slide the switch module towards the To replace the switch for the heated windshield and rear window, the radio/cassette player should be removed, the heater control panel unclipped, wiring connectors disconnected and switch assembly pulled out. Courtesy light door switch: Open the door, locate the figure at the back (of the door striker/contact switch); unscrew the two 'twice insertion' screws and disconnect the electrical connector. Removing is the obvious opposite for installation and is done in the same manner.

    Q:
How to replace the ignition switch and key lock cylinder on Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the knee bolster trim panel, the knee bolster, and the upper and lower steering column covers, then lower the steering column to its lowest position. Caution is advised not to remove the ignition switch and the Ignition Lock Cylinder simultaneously, as this could damage the steering column. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch and depress the release tabs to detach it from the steering column. Ensure that the switch snaps into place during installation, which follows the reverse order of removal. Remove the Forward Controls Interface Module, then release the tabs on each side to take out the push button switch and disconnect its electrical connector, with installation being the reverse of removal. Caution is again advised regarding the ignition switch and Ignition Lock Cylinder. Turn the ignition key to the ON or ACC position depending on the model year, then use a suitable tool to depress the Ignition Lock Cylinder release button and remove the Ignition Lock Cylinder. To install, insert it into the lock cylinder housing and push until it clicks into place, verifying that the ignition switch operates correctly in all positions. For the Ignition Lock Cylinder illumination ring, disconnect the electrical connector and disengage the lock tabs to remove it, with installation being the reverse of removal, ensuring that it snaps into place.

    Q:
How do you remove and install the key lock cylinder and ignition switch on Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the instrument cluster upper and lower trim panels. Using a small screwdriver, detach the tabs securing the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) transceiver to the ignition lock cylinder housing, then pull the transceiver off the housing and disconnect the electrical connector. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn it to the ACC position. Insert an awl or suitable tool into the hole in the underside of the ignition lock cylinder, then depress the ignition lock cylinder retaining tab and remove the ignition lock cylinder. To install the ignition lock cylinder, insert it into the lock cylinder housing and push it in until it clicks into place. Verify that the ignition switch operates correctly in the OFF, ACC, RUN, and START positions, with installation being the reverse of removal. For 2014 and earlier models, do not remove the ignition switch and the ignition lock cylinder at the same time to avoid damaging the steering column. Remove the fasteners securing the ignition lock cylinder housing, disconnect the electrical connector for the PATS transceiver, and disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch. Depress the release tabs to detach the ignition switch from the ignition lock cylinder, ensuring that it snaps into place during installation, which is otherwise the reverse of removal. For 2015 and later keyless entry models, carefully pry out the left-side center air register from the instrument panel using a trim tool, disconnect the electrical connector from the push start ignition switch, and from the back side of the instrument panel, depress the two retaining tabs on the switch then push the ignition switch button out of the instrument panel.

    Q:
How do you remove and reinstall the ignition lock cylinder and ignition switch in Mercury Mariner? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and turn the Ignition Lock Cylinder to ON for 2006 and earlier model years. Push a 1/8-inch awl or punch through designated holes in the steering column cover and housing to depress the lock cylinder release button while pulling it out. During the installation of the Ignition Lock Cylinder, make sure the Ignition Lock Cylinder is on, align ridges on the cylinder with grooves inside the receptacle and turn the Ignition Lock Cylinder back to OFF so that the release button can be returned to its place. Verify proper operation, reconnect battery first, then perform PCM relearning process if necessary. Remove the steering column covers after disconnecting the negative battery cable on 2007 models or later ones. Use a sharp-tipped pick to release the anti-theft module's locking tabs; remove it from the Ignition Lock Cylinder assembly by this means. Insert key into ACC position turning it clockwise until resistance is felt; insert thin rod into access hole through which release pin passes while pulling outwards on key shafts.
