    Q:
How do you replace the oil pump on Ford Mustang? Posted by Customer
    A:
To disassemble this for a 3.7L engine, start at the oil pan, drain/fetch it, remove the oil filter and timing chain cover. Secondly, remove the primary timing chain and slide the crankshaft sprocket off the crankshaft part. Two fasteners need to be removed in order to the oil pump pickup and screen assembly and the three other bolts which secures the oil pump need to be removed. Replace the oil pump with a new one, and tighten the bolts to the standard measure recommended by the manufacturer and replace the oil pump pickup tube together with the screen using a new O-ring. Repeat the removal process in the reverse and then put new oil into the engine and bought a new oil filter to check the leakage of the engine by starting it. As for a 4.0L engine, to make this modification one has to remove both the lower and upper oil pan sections, and this means extracting the engine from the car. To get at the oil pump, first undo the bolts that hold the oil pump in place then take out the oil pump driveshaft. Warm up the pump by pouring fresh oil into one of the ports and spinning it around with your hand. Slide the driveshaft in the engine manner and before it is correctly fixed in position you need to ensure that the travel limit clip is properly fixed firmly. Place the oil pump and the block over a new gasket, and ensure that the driveshaft engages the appropriate place, then tighten the bolts that are related to the oil pump. Complete the process by performing the reverse of the removal procedures, start the engine and the oil pressure should return to normal as quickly as possible with such failure can lead to serious damages on the engine.

    Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump in V8 engine on Ford F-150? Posted by Customer
    A:
The oil pump is supplied only as an assembly with no service components or repair information from the manufacturer. Before removing the oil pump, one has to lift the car using a jack and put it on two stands, and then change the engine oil. The instructions in the present work are developed to be applicable for all models except 5.0L: the oil pan should be removed, and the two bolts that fix the oil pump pick-up tube to the oil pump should be separated. After that, take off the timing chain cover, the timing chains, the chain guides and the crankshaft sprocket. Remove the oil pump mounting fastener and remove the pump from the engine block, on 5.0L and 6.2L models the oil pump is secured with four bolts and two stud bolts. Check the O-ring gasket at he pick-up tube end and replace it if worn out. Replace the oil pump back on the engine and make sure that the bolts are correctly and tightly tightened. Before installing, crank the oil pump submerged in clean oil into the pick-up port and turn the oil pump by hands. Reversing the procedures mentioned above to complete the installation and then add the correct type and amount of oil in the engine, operate the engine to check if there is any leakage.
